Dry suites are the best way to maintain a reliable barrier between yourself and the elements, the better the quality of dry suit the more uses you can put it to, for example if you purchase a drysuit made from Goretex you will be able use it's ability to even dry out your clothes while wearing them as the Goretex material is known to provide the best breathability of all the fabrics currently available.

What happens - well your body heat heats up your clothing and evapouration starts to take place, in the process the suit breathes and releases the moisture from the suit but does not allow any moisture to enter.

New materials are also coming on to the market which have started a new wave of drysuit that is much more afordable and just as user friendly with options of front entry suits like Kokatat, NRS - while Immersion Research use the rear zip option.

Dry suits in my experience also help you retain your body fluids requiring less fluid to be consumed on trips, they also seperate your body totaly from any salt water and only require you to cover your hands in cold harsh places and with the use of correct sunblocks on lips and facial area's, they also provide you with extra bouyancy and better safety margin.

At the end of the day, take of your suit of - hop into your car and drive away - no need to change into dry clothes. Remember the better the suit the less persperation as it is wicked away with a good quality breathable fabric.

Drysuits are the ultimate in effective paddle gear, they have so many uses including kayak fishing - I personally use one and find that they are a pleasure to use.

They keep you warm and dry with the correct layering gear underneath , improve your safety margin by leaps and bounds as they add to your floatation and are much better to be in in colder temperatures than wetsuits should you end up in the water.
